Cookie Policy
Last Updated: 5 June 2025 | Effective Date: 5 June 2025
This page explains what cookies are, which ones our website uses, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences. If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember information about your visit — for example, that you have acknowledged a notice, or which pages you viewed — so that the experience works smoothly and consistently.
Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses. They are used across almost all websites and are a standard part of how the web operates.
2. How We Use Cookies
The Anchorline website uses cookies for three purposes:
- Essential operation — to remember your cookie preferences and keep the website functioning correctly.
- Analytics — to understand how visitors arrive at and move through our pages, so we can improve the information we provide. This data is collected in aggregate and does not identify individuals.
- Marketing measurement — to track whether visits from advertisements on external platforms led to an enquiry, so we can measure the reach of our workshop announcements. This does not involve tracking your activity across other websites beyond what is described below.
We do not use cookies to serve you personalised advertisements, to build profiles, or to share your data with data brokers.
3. Cookies We Use
| Cookie Name | Provider | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| anchorline_cookie_ok | Anchorline | Essential | Remembers that you have acknowledged our cookie notice, so it does not appear again. | 1 year |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Analytics | Distinguishes unique users. Used to calculate aggregate page visit statistics. No personal data is stored. | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics | Analytics | Persists session state for the current analytics property. Used alongside _ga. | 2 years |

| _uetsid | Microsoft (Bing) | Marketing | Records sessions from Microsoft Advertising placements (Bing Ads) to measure the reach of workshop announcements. | Session |
| _uetvid | Microsoft (Bing) | Marketing | Used alongside _uetsid to distinguish returning visits from Microsoft Advertising campaigns. | 16 days |
4. Your Consent
When you first visit our website, a notice appears at the bottom of the screen. You can accept all cookies or decline the non-essential ones. Your choice is stored for one year so the notice does not return unless you clear your browser data.
The essential cookie (anchorline_cookie_ok) is set regardless of your choice, since it is the record of your preference and is necessary for the notice to work correctly.
You may change your preference at any time by clearing this cookie through your browser settings (see Section 5) and reloading the page.
5. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
Every major browser allows you to view, block, or delete cookies. The steps vary by browser; you can find instructions through the "Help" or "Settings" section of whichever browser you use. Guidance for common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.
Blocking all cookies may affect the way some pages on our site display or function, though no core information will be unavailable.
6. Third-Party Cookie Policies
Some of the cookies listed in Section 3 are set by third-party services (Google, Meta, Microsoft). These providers operate under their own data and cookie policies, which we recommend you read if you wish to understand how they handle data:
- Google: policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta: www.facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Microsoft: privacy.microsoft.com
We only use analytics and marketing cookies from these providers to measure the reach and performance of workshop information we publish. We do not use them for retargeting or behavioural advertising.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we add, remove, or change the cookies we use, we will update this page and revise the Last Updated date. For significant changes, we will note them clearly at the top of this page. We recommend checking back from time to time.
